Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?
A soothing topical cream is applied before and during your treatment to keep you comfortable. Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching. Pain tolerance varies, but the vast majority of clients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the process is.
How long does it last?
Results typically last 1–3 years depending on the treatment, your skin type, and how well you follow the aftercare advice. Oilier skin types may fade faster. A maintenance top-up session every 12–18 months will keep your result looking its best.
Is it safe?
Yes. Alex is VTCT certified and fully insured. She uses sterile, single-use equipment for every treatment, and uses high-quality pigments specifically formulated for permanent makeup. All necessary checks are carried out before any colour treatment.
What is the healing process like?
In the first few days the treated area will appear darker and more intense than the finished result. This is completely normal. The colour softens significantly as the skin heals over 4–6 weeks. A top-up appointment at 6–8 weeks is included in your treatment price to perfect the result once fully healed.
What is the difference between permanent makeup and a tattoo?
Permanent makeup uses specialist pigments that are designed to fade over time, unlike traditional tattoo ink which is permanent. The technique is also different — permanent makeup pigment is placed in the upper layers of the skin, resulting in a softer, more natural appearance.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable, but there are some contraindications. You may not be able to have treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain skin conditions, are on blood thinners, or have had certain medical procedures. Alex will go through this with you at your free consultation.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is discussed in full at your free consultation so there are no surprises. The price always includes your full initial appointment and the complimentary top-up at 6–8 weeks.
